Although I serve clients across the globe, my offices are located in Toronto/Tkaronto/Aterón:to/Tsi Tkarón:to, Canada.
Toronto is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.
Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaty signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands.
I am grateful for the opportunity to work on this sacred land, which is part of an agreement between Indigenous peoples and then extended to allied nations to peacefully and respectfully care for it.
Toronto roughly translates from the Mohawk language to "over there is the place of the submerged tree" (what is now downtown Toronto was once submerged under a lake). In the Wendat language, Toronto has been given various translations including "abundance," "a place of plenty," and "the meeting place."
